Styling winter outfits
The magic of wintering
As the days grow shorter and the nights a little colder, winter weaves its magic, inviting us to embrace a season filled with warmth, joy, and creativity. With our cosy knits and scarves at the ready, it’s time to celebrate the unique beauty of winter by indulging in delightful walks, heartwarming food, the comforting glow of log fires and time together.
With the impending frosts beginning to paint delicate patterns on windows and the landscapes transformed into a serene wonderland, winter walks unveil nature’s beautifully artistic side. I love to wrap up and venture outdoors to experience the freshness of chilled air and the beauty of almost bare trees, silhouetted against the soft winter sun. There’s a certain joy in crunching through snow or leaves underfoot, and then returning home for piping hot chocolate and a good book.
The enchanting allure of winter by the Suffolk coast, where the cold air invigorates the spirit and the ocean whispers tales of tranquility, is a perfect time for me to contemplate and connect with nature. It’s a time for creativity, offering me a chance to slow down and reflect. I love the change in seasons so very much. And it prompts me to think about winter outfit ideas.
Cosy staples
My wardrobe staples of warmer days have retreated and my focus is firmly on the season of joy. With festivities on the horizon, cosy knits that can be repeated through the slower days of winter are my go-to. The Filey Fairisle Roll Neck Jumper is a case in point. Featuring a special seawool blend made from oyster shells, a unique Fairisle design, and a sumptuously soft roll neck, it epitomises luxury comfort and represents a cosy throw-on that I will reach for time and time again.
I twin this with a great pair of Poppy Jeans and the timeless style of the Lilymere Quilt Jacket; with its styleable collar and cuffs, the Lilymere Quilt Jacket is a lightweight and slim-fitting piece that exudes country charm and effortless elegance. With a smart, diamond-quilted construction and a range of refined details that complete the premium finish, it's become a firm favourite of mine.
All these pieces are made for long walks and cosy evenings out with friends and family. And I’m never outdoors without my Willow Fedora II – a classic accessory, built for the elements and adventuring.
Winter outfit ideas galore
To elevate my style for that all-important cosy pub lunch, I love the Beauly Tweed Skirt. The elegant and slim-fitting Beauly Tweed Skirt is composed of 100% British-milled tweed which delivers lightweight warmth and next-to-skin comfort. Incredibly versatile and stylish, this skirt features a contrasting satin lining. Its flattering shape and above-the-knee length translate to a premium, classic look. A true time-piece, I’ve styled with the coastal-inspired Filey Cardigan which is crafted from a special seawool blend made from oyster shells. The exquisite Filey Cardigan enjoys a boxy, shorter cut, for a modern feel, but with no shortage of charm – it is perfect for Suffolk by the sea. With a relaxed fit, ribbed hem and cuffs, and a three-button closure, this wonderfully versatile layer delivers effortless pared-back style, which I love.
So, as we journey through winter and the joy of the festive season ahead, let us embrace the quieter, cosier moments that this inspiring time of year has to offer. The log fires, the brisk walks, the delicious seasonal food and the festive spirit, all weaving together to create a tapestry of comfort and happiness.
Here’s to a winter filled with warmth, joy, and endless opportunities for togetherness.
Happy wintering!
